PRiMA is Lancaster's boutique theatrical experience. With a focus on presenting works that bridge contemporary music and musical theatre, the organization is known for intimate, authentic and energizing performances with powerful musicianship. The work of PRiMA has attracted Broadway's best, including Stephen Schwartz, Adam Pascal, Jason Robert Brown, Jeremy Schonfeld, Shoshana Bean, and Josefina Scaglione. Additionally, the organization offers special events management and entertainment booking. PRiMA is honored to be a part of the ever-increasing cultural vitality of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

PRiMA began in 2010 with a group of theatre professionals who were passionate about creating something exciting in Lancaster. The dream was to shake up the cultural status quo. Now one of the fastest growing performing arts organization in the region, PRiMA continues to unite around the vision to invigorate lives through fresh theatrical experiences.

Executive Producer Mitch Nugent and his wife Diana founded PRiMA with the belief that the arts are at their best when they are relevant and engaging. The Nugents started by bringing together the region’s finest talent for benefit performances and cabarets. The community’s response was outstanding, raising substantial funds for local charities, all while performing to packed venues. PRiMA started with cabarets at Prince Street Cafe, and was stamped as ‘on the scene’ in 2011 with productions like Chess. Since then, PRiMA has since produced main-stage musicals, concerts, cabarets and special events. Notable productions include The Last Five Years, Oz in Concert, Songs For A New World, Monster Music, 80’s Re-Lived!, Elton John’s AIDA, Children of Eden, Chess, Big Fish and Tick Tick Boom. Guest artists include three-time Tony award winning Broadway composer Jason Robert Brown, Josefina Scaglione, Broadway's Maria in West Side Story and Broadway's Elphaba from Wicked, Shoshana Bean, Stephen Schwartz (Composer of Wicked), and Adam Pascal from Broadway’s Rent, and Billy Porter, Tony Award winning performer best known for originating the role of Lola in Kinky Boots.

The non-profit production organization is known for its innovation, not only in programming but also in community involvement and fundraising. Working with local schools and colleges, PRiMA offers influential hands-on internships, subsidized ticket opportunities and educational engagements through the Youth Experience Initiative.

Special Events by PRiMA allows the organization to serve the community further by engaging in professional event management, including booking entertainers for special events. PRiMA helped originate marketing efforts for Lancaster's Extraordinary Give, which has raising millions of dollars for hundreds of local charities. These efforts, in addition to Corporate Partners and Friends of PRiMA, makes cultivating a a boutique theatre experience possible. Through these contributions and the efforts of over one hundred volunteers, PRiMA is able to bring the finest talent together, creating contemporary musical theatre performances that Lancaster would otherwise not find accessible.

At present, PRiMA can be best understood as a production organization, choosing the best local venue for each unique production. No matter where they are taking place, PRiMA events are aimed at being fresh, relevant and contagiously energetic experiences. These efforts are blazing a new path for the arts in the Lancaster region, engaging arts patrons as well as a new generation of culturally engaged citizens.

Lancaster is increasingly becoming a more vibrant place thanks to the many companies and organizations that do their part in creating an energetic cultural experience in our region. The team at PRiMA is proud to play a part in these efforts.
