Prima's mission is to invigorate lives with fresh theatrical experiences. Featuring music and stories that speak to a contemporary audience, Prima events are often described as engaging, authentic and energizing.
The organization features top-notch talent from across the nation and within the local community. Prima has hosted some of Broadway's best, including Stephen Schwartz, Adam Pascal, Billy Porter, Jason Robert Brown, Jeremy Schonfeld, Shoshana Bean, and Josefina Scaglione.
From boutique musicals to concerts and special events, Prima is honored to be a part of the ever-increasing cultural vitality of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Prima began in 2010 with a group of theatre professionals who were passionate about shaking up the cultural status quo with top-notch and immersive performances.
Executive Producer Mitch Nugent and his wife Diana founded Prima on the belief that the arts are at their best when they are relevant and engaging. They started by bringing together the region’s finest talent for cabarets at Prince Street Cafe. At venues across the region, the organization began producing boutique musicals, concerts, cabarets and special events. Since then, Prima productions continue to be contagiously engaging experiences for arts patrons, those who are not normally theatre-goers, as well as a new generation of culturally engaged citizens.
Notable productions include First Date, The Last Five Years, Oz in Concert, Songs For A New World, 80’s Re-Lived!, Elton John’s AIDA, Children of Eden, Chess, Big Fish and Tick Tick Boom. Guest artists include Tony and Grammy winners, including Jason Robert Brown, Josefina Scaglione, Shoshana Bean, Stephen Schwartz, Adam Pascal, and Billy Porter.
Prima is a community of people who believe that everyone deserves invigorating experiences. As a non-profit organization, Prima offers students influential hands-on internships, subsidized ticket opportunities, and master classes through the NextGen Initiative.
Special Events by PRiMA allows the organization to serve the community further by engaging in professional event management, including booking entertainers for special events. These efforts, in addition to our visionary investors and volunteers, make Prima a sustainable and growing cultural resource for the region.
Lancaster is increasingly becoming a more vibrant place thanks to the many companies and organizations that do their part in creating an energetic cultural experience in our region. The team at Prima is grateful to play a key role in this movement.
