Accessibility Efforts

Prima is to be a welcoming place for all. Specifically, our staff and Board of Directors are actively engaged in efforts to make our physical space and experiences more accessible to those with different abilities. Accessibility action items are included in our 2022-2026 Strategic Plan. An extensive Accessibility Audit has been completed, with research, grant requests, and budgeting underway to make operative steps towards greater access. To learn more, provide feedback, or offer support, please contact admin@primatheatre.org.

Land Acknowledgement

Prima acknowledges that we are operating where the Susquehannock people originally called home, for whom we pay respect and honor as the early stewards of this land.

Anti-Racism

Prima recognizes our nation’s historic complicity with slavery and ongoing systemic racism. People of color have been and continue to be harmed through oppressive systems, behaviors, and exclusion from opportunities.

We acknowledge the trauma endured by many of our artists, staff, students, volunteers, audience members, and community partners.

Anti-racism is a daily choice, and we commit to holding ourselves accountable for any harm we may cause. We commit to hiring diverse artists and continually create policies that promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice.

Most specifically, to our friends, colleagues, and partners of color – we see you, we love you, and your lives matter.

As Prima furthers our anti-racist efforts, we are seeking to rectify the disparities in whom we serve so that everyone can feel safe and welcome.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Pledge

Prima is committed to working towards equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Acknowledging the inequitable structures established by the dominant culture and Prima's unintentional participation in these unjust systems, we make the following pledges:

  1. We pledge to welcome all people, regardless of their race, class, religion, country of origin, immigration status, disability, age, gender identity, political affiliation, sexual orientation, or genetic information

  2. We pledge to strive for equity at every level of our organization

  3. We pledge to create and sustain equitable hiring practices, responsive work environments, and mindful institutional planning

  4. We pledge to be a brave space: Exploring truth, pursuing hope, and fostering mutual understanding

  5. We pledge to tell stories and share music that reflect our community
